CANTERBURY album ‘THANK YOU' released early for free!

Due to a slight communication error, coupled with impatience, Canterbury's debut album ‘Thank You’ (due for release 23rd November as a free download or for purchase limited edition box-set CD / standard CD) has found itself released digitally into the world already.

The free download had already been accessed nearly 2000 times in the first day and a half before anyone noticed that the website http://www.canterburythankyou.com - announcing the release had been set live almost a month early. Despite attempts to contain it, the genie was out of the bottle / toothpaste was out of the tube (insert your own metaphor).

So... we are pleased to announce the early release of the album! The album is available to download in full from - http://www.canterburythankyou.com

Though absolutely free to download, fans of 'Thank You' are invited to offer whatever sum, however large or small, for payment they feel is fitting, should they feel the album has enriched their life enough to wish to part with money.

The album will be available to purchase from November 23rd from the band's online store (though pre-orders are available now) as a special limited edition hand-decorated, box CD which features:
- CD Album
- Lyric Sheet
- Badge
- Sticker
- Handwritten 'Thank You' note from the band
- A completely unique (one taken for each box) Polaroid photo sticker to stick upon the hand-stamped and numbered box that everything comes inside (thus rendering each copy 100% unique.)

Purchasers will be invited to send the band a photo of their own box, that will in time grace the great 'Thank You Gallery' which will be added to the website all in good time). A more traditional jewel-case CD edition will also be available from the webstore, as well as record stores and online retailers.

TWIN ATLANTIC announce next single and UK/European dates with THE FALL OF TROY!

Acclaimed Glaswegian rock band Twin Atlantic are set to release the latest cut from their recently released ‘Vivarium’ mini-album on the 7th of December, in the form of ‘What Is Light? Where Is Laughter?’.

Having seen ‘Vivarium’ chart at number 21 in the UK independent album charts, previous single ‘You’re Turning into John Wayne’ go in at number 3 in the OCC Scottish single charts, as well as a successful headline tour of UK and Ireland, things are certainly picking up steam for the Scottish quartet.

The track, according to frontman, Sam McTrusty, is “a perfect example of how we try to use loud and quiet dynamics in our song writing.” He continues, “there’s also enough shiny pop moments we hope, that make the track more than a one listen work.”

As for the song’s subject matter, the singing guitarist sheds some light, “the song is written from a child’s perspective, as they’re always asking questions about the things they don’t understand or that scare them into standing up for themselves. As for the delivery, the main thing we wanted to get across as musicians was the chorus sounding and feeling like an explosion of light, hopefully giving the song an epic quality in the vein of instrumental bands like Mogwai and Explosions In The Sky.”

A video to accompany the single will be shot in America, whilst the band are over for the CMJ Festival in New York later this month. In the meantime check out a video for the track shot containing live footage and clips from the 'Vivarium' recording trip - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4H6Tz5-Z2go&fmt=18

The band head to Europe next, with The Fall Of Troy, with a few UK dates at the tail-end of the tour serving as the next opportunity to catch the young Scots.

Catch the band on the road in support of the release, at the following UK dates:
OCT 20: MANCHESTER, Moho Live (In The City – Rock Sound Stage)
NOV 15: CARDIFF, Clwb Ifor Bach (w/ The Fall Of Troy)
NOV 17: BELFAST, Mandela Hall (BBC Introducing Event)
NOV 18: MANCHESTER, Academy 3 (w/ The Fall Of Troy)
NOV 19: BIRMINGHAM, Academy 2 (w/ The Fall Of Troy)
NOV 21: LONDON, Garage (w/ The Fall Of Troy)

“Frontman Sam articulates endearing confessionals and though parallels to early Biffy are audible, it’s doubtful their compatriots were ever so energetic.” – NME

“There’s something gloriously impassioned about Sam McTrusty’s vocals. Yearning, searching, hoping and, above all, real.” – KERRANG!

“Glasgow’s Twin Atlantic are one of the most exciting bands you’ll hear for some time. Surely the beginning of great things.” – ROCKSOUND

STRAWBERRY BLONDES set to 'Fight Back'!

Newport punks Strawberry Blondes return with their second full length album ‘Fight Back’. While many bands fall victim to the dreaded ‘difficult second album’, Strawberry Blondes deliver a barrage of prime rabble-rousing anthems, featuring guest appearances by The BriggsJoey La Rocca and former Stubborn All-Stars front man and New York City ska legend King Django. ‘Fight Back’ shows that Strawberry Blondes, like The Clash and The Specials before them, have that knack of writing songs that perfectly capture the mood of the time. These are songs that express the anger and frustration of living in the bleak and decaying cities of Britain, in a way that is culturally positive and delivered with a passion and an indefinable feeling that’s difficult to fake.

“This year is the 25th anniversary of the 1984 miner’s strike, where we come from even today the scars of the strike still run deep,” adds frontman Mickie Stabbs. “That’s why this album is dedicated to the miner’s and their families. One of my first memories of school was when I was about 5 years old, during the miners’ strike. I remember at lunchtime the orange plastic buckets used to go around collecting loose change for the National Union of Mineworkers. When you're that young it sticks in your brain and as you become a bit older and start to really understand, you can't help but become radicalised by what is going on around you.”

The band who were personally invited by Rancid to open a UK tour, have also clocked up shows alongside the likes of Bad Brains, Anti-Flag, UK Subs and The Unseen, as well as extensive touring of the UK and Europe. In addition to this, the title track from their 2007 debut-album, ‘Rise Up’ features on the movie soundtrack to the film Green Street 2, ( Titled ‘Hooligans 2‘, in the U.S.). The sequel to Green Street - The 2005 football hooligan movie starring Elijah Wood, Charlie Hunnam, Claire Forlani and Marc Warren.

Fired with the burning frustration of living on the wrong side of nu-millennium Britain, Strawberry Blondes reinvent the past and spit it into the future.

Strawberry Blondes release 'Fight Back' on Monday 9th November 2009 through Not On Your Radio Records.

You can hear their spin on the track for one day only on the bands MySpace page at http://www.myspace.com/twinatlantic

“There’s something gloriously impassioned about Sam McTrusty’s vocals. Yearning, searching, hoping and, above all, real. It’s a trait reflected in the music his band make. Inventive and thrusting it always goes somewhere, building from pointed beginnings into something more transcendent.” – Kerrang!

“Twin Atlantic are one of the most exciting bands you’ll hear for some time. This debut mini-album is surely the beginning of great things.” – Rock Sound

BURY TOMORROW to unleash 'Portraits'

There's a resounding sense of positivity on Hampshire based metallers Bury Tomorrow's debut full-length, 'Portraits'. Produced by former SikTh members Dan Weller and Justin Hill (Johnny Truant, Gallows, Exit Ten), 'Portraits' is an eleven-track affair that offers up a selection of first-class riffery, solid rhythms and an impressive display of effective dual vocals.

There’s no denying that there’s a wide range of subject matter within ‘Portraits’, opener ‘Confessions’ is about struggling with guilt surrounding a death and condemning violence over resolve, whereas forthcoming single ‘You and I’ describes the crossroads you find yourselves at when you feel it right to end a relationship. Messages of belief and strength are rife on ‘Repair The Lining’, a track about trying to overcome illness, whilst album’s closer and title track takes its subject matter from the Oscar Wilde book The Picture of Dorian Gray, a book about a man who has a painting commissioned that will age instead of him allowing him to keeps his looks and continue his sinful and hedonistic life style.

Having already shared stages with the likes of Bring Me The Horizon, Will Haven, Caliban and Architects on their ascent up the underground ladder, ‘Portraits’ looks set to truly establish the quintet as a leading force within a flourishing UK metal scene.

'Portraits' is released on Monday 12th October through Basick Records.

NOT ADVISED confirmed to support on YOU ME AT SIX's intimate September run!

Southampton pop-punkers Not Advised, who release their 'Fight For This' EP on September 14th, have been confirmed to support You Me At Six on their September tour. The tour hits the following venues:

SEP 09: LONDON, Underworld
SEP 10: MANCHESTER, Roadhouse
SEP 11: DUNDEE, Fat Sams
SEP 12: EDINBURGH, Bongo Club
SEP 13: ABERDEEN, Moshulu

Not Advised have been bubbling under the surface within a flourishing UK scene for quite some time now, but ‘Fight For This’, produced by Romesh Dodangda (Funeral For A Friend, Kids In Glass Houses), with it’s huge hooks – is the sound of a band ready to break out and really start making a name for themselves.

Having played their P.M.A fuelled brand of rock alongside the likes of You Me At Six, Kids In Glass Houses and The Blackout, Not Advised are no strangers to hard graft and the belief that with the right application and determination you make your own luck and opportunities. Evidence of this is perfectly reflected in the title of this EP, with the five tracks all echoing their uplifting sentiment.

The subject matter of EP opener, ‘A Red Light Situation’, perfectly sums up the band’s happy go lucky outlook, as guitarist, Jack Fairbrother, explains, “it’s about a red engine management light which comes on in our van meaning we have to pull over on the hard shoulder to restart the van. Some of our funniest times in this band have been on the hard shoulder when our van’s broken. I guess there’s a message there, in that although things always seem to be going wrong, we’re having the time of our lives and “wouldn’t change this place for anything”.

London based quartet HAUNTS are back with a storming new EP featuring ‘Love Is Blind’ and remixes from Black Teeth, L’Armour La Morgue and Pics Plox. ‘Love Is Blind’ will be the final release from their stunning self-titled debut album, released last November on Black Records.

Never ones to shy away from the darker side, the supporting remixes from Black Teeth, L’Amour La Morgue and Pics Plox perfectly compliment the dirty electro side Haunts have always delivered with a stylish stomp and swagger.

NOT ADVISED... FIGHT FOR THIS.

Hampshire based pop-rockers Not Advised have been bubbling under the surface within a flourishing UK scene for quite some time now, but ‘Fight For This’, with it’s huge hooks – is the sound of a band ready to break out and really start making a name for themselves.

LIVE DATES:
JUL 31: ISLE OF WIGHT, The Studio

TWIN ATLANTIC RELEASE ‘LIGHTSPEED’ AS A FREE DOWNLOAD AHEAD OF ‘VIVARIUM’.

‘Lightspeed’, the opening track from Twin Atlantic’s forthcoming John Travis (Sugar Ray, Kid Rock and Static X) produced mini-album, ‘Vivarium’, will be available for free download exclusively at www.TwinAtlantic.com from 29th June for a limited time.

As frontman, Sam McTrusty, explains, “We’ve been away for a little while recording ‘Vivarium’, so we wanted to give something back to our fan base as a thank you for their patience and continued support."

As an added bonus, the band will be giving away an acoustic version of ‘Lightspeed’ to those who twitter about it! Fans will be able to download the bonus track in exchange for one tweet via a turnkey interface on www.TwinAtlantic.com. A corresponding video, shot in the Salton Sea in the desert of California, can also be seen by visiting the band's website.

‘Lightspeed’ follows Twin Atlantic’s critically acclaimed single, ‘What is Light? Where is Laughter?’ (September 2008) and their self-released EP ‘A Guidance from Colour’ (March 2008). The band has built a supportive following throughout the UK from touring with bands such as The Subways, Biffy Clyro and Circa Survive, in addition to opening slots alongside The Smashing Pumpkins and Thrice. During their March ’09 headlining tour they sold out the 1,000 capacity QMU venue in their hometown of Glasgow.

Fresh from their appearance at Donington Park’s Download Festival, and with further festival performances already confirmed at Guilfest, T In The Park and Sonisphere, as well as a soon to be announced headlining jaunt, the run up to ‘Vivarium’, like the record itself - is looking very healthy.

The ‘Vivarium’ mini-album and preceding single ‘You’re Turning Into John Waynewill both be released in September.

Introducing THE NEW 1920...

Allow us to introduce The New 1920. Having played shows in the UK and Europe alongside the likes of Lostprophets, Fighting With Wire, Kids In Glass Houses and Get Cape Wear Cape Fly and at a selection of summer festivals, the Cardiff based quartet are certainly starting to carve out a name for themselves with their vibrant rock stylings.

This, their self-titled debut EP, produced in garages and bedrooms across Cardiff last summer by Lostprophets trio Stuart Richardson, Mike Lewis and Ian Watkins, serves as the perfect foundation, showcasing the bands punchy, upbeat verses, flawlessly complementing their penchant for a huge sing-a-long chorus.

Though only a four-track affair, the release touches on an array of themes, as singer Colin explains, “It’s about life, love, loss, city life, ups, downs, escape and ultimately understanding our own goals.” With collective influences ranging from classic outfits The Jam, Pearl Jam and The Police to the modern sounds of We Are Scientists, The Strokes and Kings Of Leon, the band draws from these influences to write straight forward energetic rock songs with an undercurrent of punk rock edge, which is inherent in the bands roots.

July Headline Dates:
22: SOUTHAMPTON, Talking Heads
23: BRIGHTON, Freebut
24: LONDON, o2 Academy 2
25: NOTTINGHAM, Rock City
26: BIRMINGHAM, The Rainbow

"The tunes are addictive and the lyrics are simply genius! This band are going to be massive, They are the next BIG thing! Dont miss an opportunity to check them out" - Rock Sound

"The New 1920 are spiky, catchy and brilliant" - The Fly

ATTACK! ATTACK! and TWIN ATLANTIC for Sonisphere!

Motion PR is very proud to announce that both Attack! Attack! and Twin Atlantic have been confirmed for this year's Sonisphere Festival at Knebworth Park on the weekend of August 1st and 2nd.

The announcement signals more good news for Cardiff based rockers, Attack! Attack!, who recently revealed that their track 'You and Me' will appear on the Guitar Hero 5 video game, as well as having it feature in a recent episode of hit US show 90210. "We are super stoked to be playing Sonisphere. Not only is it going to be a massive show for us, our biggest to date, but we get to watch the mighty Metallica play which can only be described as rad!" said frontman Neil Starr.

Glaswegian quartet, Twin Atlantic, who are currently putting the finishing touches to their forthcoming mini-album in Los Angeles, are equally thrilled about the announcement. "We're extremely honoured to be playing at Sonisphere this year, not often do you get the chance to watch Metallica and play your own set aswell. We can now die happily and tell our illegitimate grandchildren that Grandad played with Metallica once. Technically. We're in LA recording right now, so the thought of playing on home soil (well, Great Britain) over the summer with shiny new material makes us very happy," commented drummer Craig Kneale, before joking, "we're hoping there will be a red carpet laid out at the airport to mark our emotional return."

The bands join the likes of Metallica, Linkin Park, Nine Inch Nails, Bullet For My Valentine, Mastodon, Feeder Machine Head and Alice In Chains on the bill.

YOUNG GUNS gear up for the release of ‘Mirrors’ with an extensive set of live shows!

The home-grown production line has been in overdrive of late in the rock world, and High Wycombe-based quintet, Young Guns, are proof that it’s showing no signs of fatigue.

Their four track debut EP, ‘Mirrors’, has been produced by former SikTh members Dan Weller and Justin Hill (Enter Shikari, Haunts, Gallows), and covers a host of subjects, from party-induced-excess and temptation, to adolescent aspirations and dependency, and all this in little more than 16 minutes. However, it’s a brief blast of promise that should more than whet the appetite for what’s to come from the five-piece and serves as a ringing statement of intent.

With former Johnny Truant drummer Paul Jackson (Alexisonfire, Cancer Bats, The Ghost Of A Thousand) handling artwork duties, and a forthcoming remix of ‘The Weight Of The World’ by Lostprophets frontman Ian Watkins’ L’Amour La Morgue project, there’s a distinct British flavour to ‘Mirrors’.

“British music is so healthy right now, the scene here has been building for a long time,” explains singer Gustav Wood, “and to have people from some of the best bands, past and present, helping us out and digging our band is incredible.”

Having clocked up shows alongside the likes of Funeral For A Friend, The Answer and We Are The Ocean already, and with a relentless touring schedule ahead of them, it’s going to be near impossible to avoid Young Guns in 2009, and on the proof of ‘Mirrors’, we wouldn’t advise even trying.
